My white MacBook has been great, until it developed a small crack on the palm rest. Searching the internet, it turns out it’s a design flaw and Apple has acknowledged it in some cases. I tried calling Apple directly, but the rep told me that since I was out of warranty, there’s nothing I could do. I decided to live with it and hope nothing would go wrong.
When I was in Colorado Springs, I saw there was an Apple Store in town. I decided to take my MacBook in and see what could be done. I made an appointment with the Genius Bar, and took it in a little after noon on a Friday. The rep told me that they would fix it for free and could have it done before we left on Monday morning. I crossed my fingers and left it with them.
Later that evening, I received a call from the Apple Store saying my computer was ready. Wow. We went to pick it up and all I had to do was sign for it. They didn’t just replace the white palm rests, but they went the extra mile and replaced the whole top section including the keyboard, trackpad, and palmrests, so it’s like a brand new laptop!
