My 2016 vacation was to visit internet friends that I’ve known for 5+ years. It’s crazy how you talk every day and get to know people, and one day you think, “Hey, let’s go visit these people I’ve never met.” It turned out to be a great trip, and I captured some really good photos.
I had the opportunity to go out and spend some time in the early morning hours with a couple of pro-wedding photographers who wanted to shoot some star trails. We had a good time visiting while our cameras snapped away shooting 30 second photos for a total of 90 minutes.
On June 5th, there was a nice looking cloud that moved in to the east of Midland. While it didn’t make it and give us any rain, it certainly showed off, especially when the sunset happened.
I spent some time out at Lake Wichita in Wichita Falls, TX. They’re in quite a drought, so the lake level was really low. This let me get some pretty good photos by the old pier. Plus it didn’t hurt there was an amazing sunset going on at the same time.

It turns out, if you put a piece of welding glass in front of your lens, it acts as a very affordable neutral density filter. Basically, you can shoot in daylight while doing long exposures. I’ve heard this looks Read More
Back in late 2009, a company appeared out of nowhere around the tech blogs claiming to have a new way to get better sleep. That company was Perfect Third, makers of the WakeMate. On January 2, 2010, I decided to take the plunge and pre-ordered my WakeMate for $50. If I could have a product Read More
I recently ordered a new back for my iPhone 4 from Canada. It’s a stainless steel looking back and I really enjoy it, but when it comes to taking pictures and using the flash, it just doesn’t compare to the regular glass back of the iPhone 4. So here’s a quick walkthrough of how to Read More
I got to take a trip to Frisco, TX for work so of course I went down a day early so I could find things to photograph (see my post on the Botanical Gardens). When I finally got to the hotel I was staying at for work, I was blown away. This place was nice. Read More
